Masking has long been a highly valued step in many self-care routines, and rightfully so considering your skin is your largest organ. It stretches from head to toe! Taking this into consideration, why exclude the rest of your body and only apply facial treatment masks? Pores line the entire epidermis and require routine cleansing, so there’s no reason why that glow can’t be full body. Imperfections and dehydration can manifest everywhere, and masks provide many concentrated benefits including but not limited to:
- Hydration
- Exfoliation
- Purification
- Brightening
While we don’t recommend using an expensive face mask or splurge purchase on your entire body, there are amazing and affordableDIY body mask options! A clay base is always a great place to start. Bentonite clay is known for its accessibility in particular, and unlike other types of clay, it is quite easy to find and fits all budgets. Chock full of minerals that help purge impurities, bentonite clay helps balance tone and texture while oxygenating and exfoliating the skin!
After choosing a base (i.e. clay), the recipe can be tailored to achieve the results you’d like to see. Always consider compatibility when choosing the liquid and treatment that will accompany the base. A warmherbal tea will help the clay turn into a paste-like consistency, while providing its own healing properties. The treatment oil or acid is meant to provide the concentrated beneficial properties that lead to results. Moonlit Skincare’sMidnight Shift oil is a great addition that provides multiple benefits. Lavender and jojoba oil help calm the skin and moisturize, while papaya and ginseng help to exfoliate and brighten.
Timing is everything when applying a full-body mask! Great to incorporate when practicing self-care, your next night in, or right before bed. Keep reading for our favorite moisturizingDIY body maskrecipe.
