The Health Benefits of Pumpkin

Pumpkin is packed with nutrients that are not only healthy to consume but may also be applied topically. “Pumpkins contain vitamin A, C, E and antioxidants,” Claire O’Connor, Medical Aesthetician and Laser Specialist at SpaDerma, tells Lively. In addition, pumpkin contains fruit enzymes and can naturally exfoliate dead skin cells. This explains that post-pumpkin face mask glow that you’ll get after each use!

How to Add Pumpkin to Your Skincare Routine

There truly isn’t a bad time to refresh with a pumpkin face mask. O’Connor says this fall-first mask is best paired with a glass of wine in the evening for the ultimate R&R experience. To maximize benefits, wash your face and apply a toner before applying the pumpkin face mask. O’Connor noted that PCA Skin offers a pumpkin wine-based nutrient toner that complements the mask. After you’ve let the mask do its work, wash it off with a warm cloth and apply your moisturizer of choice.

O’Connor adds that 2-3x per week for no more than 10 minutes at a time is an ideal routine. A little bit can go a long way!

Your Pumpkin Face Mask Options

“The Therapeutic Pumpkin Mask from PCA combines exfoliating pumpkin enzymes, salicylic and antioxidants, which makes you feel super glow-y and fresh,” shares O’Connor. This is an office treatment only, which is highly recommended if you are able to make that happen. If you need something for the in-between time, try this DIY at-home option, below!
